The proposed regulation follows up a communication from October 2007 that explored ideas on making goods transport by rail more attractive. T&E policy officer Nina Renshaw said: 'The idea of more international coordination on these corridors is good, but it's a bit sad that it does not happen well enough by itself and that intervention is needed. The challenge it to solve this through less bureaucracy, not more.'
Making rail freight more attractive
The Commission has published plans that it hopes will lead to international rail corridors that will provide 'an efficient, high-quality freight transport infrastructure to make rail more attractive for long-distance freight operators'.
